Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of Fresno is proud to host our 10th annual “Grapple for the Cure” Jiu-Jitsu tournament to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital on Saturday May 5, 2018. Last year we raised $21,000 for this great charity! In the last 9 years we have raised a total of $80,000 for the St. Jude Children's Hospital. This year, we hope to raise enough money to bring our cumulative total to $100,000! In order to do this, we need the help of the jiu-jitsu community and the business community.
This tournament features divisions for Kids, Teens and Adults. Juvenile divisions will be broken up as fairly as possible based on age, weight, and experience. Children age 3-6 years old will compete in position only, 2-minute sparring matches with no submissions allowed. In the position-only sparring matches, points will be scored, but all children in that division will receive the same medal. The regular kids divisions (7-12 yrs), matches will be 4 minutes long and submissions are allowed. The teens divisions will be 5 minutes and submissions are allowed. All kids and teens will receive a medal with 1st-3rd places differentiated. Adult gi divisions will be separated by weight, belt, and possibly age. Weigh-ins will be in the gi and you may weigh in Friday, May 4th from 4pm-7pm at Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of Fresno. If you are unable to weigh in on Friday, you may weigh in on the day of the event. Divisions will be held for white belt (5 min matches), blue belt (6 min matches), purple belt (7 min matches) and brown belt (8 min matches). No advantage points will be utilized and ties will be settled by sudden victory overtime. In the adult divisions, medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
In addition to the Gi tournament, we are also holding adult No-Gi divisions separated by weight and experience. We are also proud to announce that we will once again have a No-Gi Absolute division. The No-Gi Absolute division is open to competitors 18 years of age and older and will be submission-only with 15 minute matches and no time limit in the finals. There are no weight limits and all experience levels are welcome to participate. THE WINNER OF THE NO-GI ABSOLUTE DIVISION WILL WIN A CASH PRIZE!

St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do science more quickly.
St. Jude researchers are published and cited more often in high impact publications than any other private pediatric oncology research institution in America. St. Jude is a place where many doctors send some of their sickest patients and toughest cases; a place where cutting-edge research and revolutionary discoveries happen every day. It is America's second-largest health-care charity so the science never stops. All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the
family's ability to pay.
